Kazakh MFA: OSCE police advisory group to serve as additional guarantee of strengthening stability in country

ASTANA. July 27. KAZINFORM The decision on sending the OSCE police advisory group to Kyrgyzstan taken last week is historical one for the OSCE itself. For the first time there was reached a consensus on sending 52 officers to one of the Central Asian countries. Chairman of the Foreign Information Committee of the Kazakh Foreign Office Roman Vasilenko said it today.

Commenting on the publications in mass media on Kyrgyzstan's protests against sending this group, R. Vasilenko said: "I think we should take into account the following points. First, the decision was adopted by all 56 members countries of the OSCE including Kyrgyzstan which itself had proposed to send the policemen as the OSCE advisors but not as armed units. Secondly, these advisors will serve as additional guarantee and additional component of strengthening stability and promoting trust in the authorities and police structures, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan".

"This is done to help all Kyrgyz people, stabilize the situation. This is a real support provided by the OSCE which must be just welcomed by the country. This group will promote stabilization by its presence, advice, and it will help strengthen the weight of Kyrgyzstan's law-enforcement bodies, raising the people's trust in this structures", R. Vasilenko highlighted.
