Kazakh MFA marks United Nations Day
Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Kazykhanov, UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan Stephen Tull as well as ambassadors of other states to Kazakhstan are taking part in it.
Opening the event, Minister Kazykhanov outlined that the Republic of Kazakhstan unanimously became the UN member on 2 March 1992 at the 46th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations under the Resolution 46/224. The event was of great political importance for the country.
"Kazakhstan during its membership in the UN has successfully integrated into the international community and occupied a prominent place therein. The UN widely recognizes the active role of Kazakhstan, particularly in the field of disarmament and strengthening the nuclear non-proliferation regime. Kazakhstan has actively participated in all of its main events and hosted some of the major international fora under its auspices. Kazakhstan is the member of almost all UN specialized agencies," the Minister said.
