Kazakh Leader calls to boost population

As stated there, about 3,5 mln people left Kazakhstan over the period of 1991-995 reducing the country's population to 14 mln. Today there are about 17 mln people in Kazakhstan. The situation has improved. One million of compatriots returned. "We have created conditions for our children. For example, 265,000 children attend school every year that is compared to the population of Uralsk city," Nazarbayev said. "About 700 schools, 600 healthcare facilities have been built the countrywide over the years of independence," he noted.
