Kazakh judoka Maxim Rakov stands a good chance to win gold at London-2012

ASTANA. August 2. KAZINFORM One of the most anticipated fights in judo between Kazakhstan's judoka Maxim Rakov and Europe's bronze winner from Azerbaijan Elmar Gassymov will take place at the XXX Summer Olympic Games today in London.

Maxim is Kazakhstan's sheet anchor in judo. Last year he took silver at the World Championship in Paris in 100 kg category and won grand prix in Dusseldorf.
Maxim's opponent is the best Azerbaijani judoka, 2012 Europe championship bronze winner Elmar Gassymov. Azerbaijani judokas were quiet successful in 2011 winning 705 medals, including 270 gold medals. At London-2012, however, all judo athletes from Azerbaijan except for E. Gassymov suffered a defeat.
Kazakhstan sets high hopes on Maxim Rakov who can win a medal in judo. The first fight of the Kazakh sportsman will be held at 2:30 p.m. Astana time today.
