Kazakh judoka Abiba Abuzhakynova upset in Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2024 quarterfinals
Kazakhstani Abiba Abuzhakynova, the leader of Kazakhstan's women's judo team, upset in her first bout in the quarterfinals of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2024 in the UAE, Kazinform News Agency learned from the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A total of 9 athletes are set to compete in the women's 48kg weight category. Thus, Kazakh judoka started the tournament at the quarterfinal stage.
Marina Vorobyeva of Russia defeated Abiba Abuzhakynova in the quarterfinal clash.
Abiba is set to compete in the consolation round.
Abiba Abuzhakynova of Kazakhstan dropped one spot in the latest International Judo Federation (IJF) ranking of the women’s -48kg category to land in the top 5. It bears to remind that Abiba Abuzhakynova lost her bronze medal bout at the 2024 Olympic Games in the Champ de Mars Arena.
