"You are the first representatives of the countries of Central Asia, who visited Shanghai free trade zone," said SHFTZ Deputy Head of the Management Committee Zhu Min at a meeting with Kazakhstan's journalists. He recalled that the project, officially opened September 29, 2013, is based on 4 duty-free areas: Waigaoqiao zone, Waigaoqiao Logistics Park, Yangshan port and complex bonded area of Pudong International Airport. The total area is 28.78 square kilometers SHFTZ is designed not only to attract foreign capital but to test economic reforms, as well as new ways of state regulation of investment, trade and finance in order to further implement them throughout the country. A few days ago China Internet Information Center released data that the SHFTZ had created 12 thousand companies including more than 1.6 thousand with foreign participation. Their combined fixed assets exceeded 340 billion Yuan ($55.4 billion), while total turnover for 8 months of the current year reached 500.4 billion Yuan ($81.5 billion), showing 9.2% growth in comparison with the same period of the last year. Media press tour of employees of TV channels "Khabar», "24.kz", TRK "Kazakhstan"; newspapers "Yegemen Kazakhstan", "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda", "Express K", "Liter", "Caravan", "Vremya", "Business Kazakhstan" and INA "Kazinform" through the cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing is organized by the Embassy of China in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the press office of the State Council, as well as control of the publishing house of literature in foreign languages in China. The press tour is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of mass media within the framework of "economic belt along the Silk Road" initiative.
