Kazakh Head of State visits Luban Workshop study center in Ust-Kamenogorsk
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, where he was familiarized with the university’s activity and the Luban Workshop study center, Kazinform News Agency cites Akorda.
Tokayev was informed about the university’s scientific and innovation ecosystem. According to Saule Rakhmetullina, the higher education facility’s rector, the Smart Engineering competence center aimed at developing import-substitution technologies in mechanical engineering and mining was opened at the university last year.
The Head of State was briefed about the university’s plans to establish a technology park in the field of medicine allowing the youth to engage in innovative projects. As of today, the university has developed over 40 types of medical implants that are current undergoing clinical tests.
It was informed that an institute of science and technology in the field of metallurgy and mining is set to be opened jointly with the Kazakh-German University.
The university’s Luban Workshop study center has two laboratories ‘Innovative car designs’ and ‘Car SMART-technologies’. The center gives students the opportunity to gain practical skills and conduct stimulation tests of automobile systems. Special attention is attached to the study of new technology on maintenance and diagnostics of electric and hybrid cars.
Opening of the Luban Workshop was initiated by Kazakh President Tokayev and Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping in May 2023 during the Central Asia-China summit in Xi’an.
