Kazakh Government to revise draft pension law
During the session, K. Massimov reported on the President's position in regards to the pension reform draft he had returned to the Kazakh Parliament last week.
"The Kazakh President noted that not all aspects of the pension reform had been analyzed in the draft, especially the gradual transition to a higher retirement age for women," Mr. Massimov said of the heatedly discussed bill.
President Nazarbayev used his constitutional right and returned the draft law to the Parliament with comments and suggested amendments.
For instance, the Head of State suggested raising the retirement age for women starting from 2018, instead of 2014 proposed by the Parliament. This move will make the modernization of the pension system more efficient and allow to take additional steps for social protection of our nationals, especially women of pre-retirement age.
The Government will explore the suggestions and comments made by the President of the country on 7 June as regards the pension reform and reflect them in the Concept of the Pension System Modernization for 2030 developed together with the National Bank.
