Kazakh Government launches Media Communications Service

ASTANA. September 17. KAZINFORM "Mass media communications department has started its work in the Government of Kazakhstan," new spokesman for the Government Yerzhan Ashikbayev announced today at a press briefing.

Y. Ashikbayev stressed that the mass media communications department has been launched under the Prime Minister's office. "The post of a government's official spokesperson has been instituted," he added.

"The service is designed to make the work of the Kazakh governmental bodies more transparent, to inform the media of the government's stance on various problems on a timely basis," Y.Ashikbayev told the briefing.

According to him, the service has been set up on the instruction of the Kazakh President. "The President stresses the importance of the global promotion of information about Kazakhstan in the process of modernization. We are committed to close cooperation with the leading international mass media based on the partner dialogue and mutual respect," Y.Ashikbayev noted.

In conclusion, he said that the service intended to hold regular media briefings on pressing issues of state policy.
