Kazakh-German bilateral commodity turnover decreased by 29% over last 4 months

ASTANA. June 22. KAZINFORM. /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ "Over January-April 2009 bilateral trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Germany decreased by 29% as compared to the analogous period of the last year", Kazakh Economy and Budget Planning Minister Bakhyt Sultanov has said at the 3rd sitting of the Kazakh-German working group for trade-economic cooperation today.

The commodity circulation amounted to USD 709 million. According to the Minister, it means that the global economic crisis very much affected the Kazakh-German trade-economic cooperation. B. Sultanov expressed hope that the activity of the working group "will allow to remedy the situation and continue more positive tendency."

According to the Co-Chairman of the group B. Sultanov, in 2008 the commodity circulation between Germany and Kazakhstan reached USD 3 billion. He stressed that Germany holds the first place among the EU countries on product supply to Kazakhstan's market. Over the entire period of cooperation German companies invested over USD 3.5 billion in Kazakhstan's economy. About 700 enterprises with German participation work in Kazakhstan.
