The 20-year-old forward was selected in the draft by the Kenai River Brown Bears, the American club's press service officially announced.

Earlier, it was reported that the player had left the system of Astana-based HC Barys. Over the past two seasons, Kazhibekov played for the Snezhnye Barsy in the Junior Hockey League Championship. He played 73 games, recording 35 points (16 goals and 19 assists).

It is noted that the move will give Karim Kazhibekov a chance to get on the radar of NCAA scouts.

The Kenai River Brown Bears are based in Soldotna, Alaska. The team competes in the NAHL Midwest Division.

As Qazinform News Agency reported in May 2026, the Kazakhstan national hockey team defeated France in their final match at the 2026 IIHF World Championship Division I.
