Kazakh FM met with UN Sec-Gen

ASTANA. April 7. KAZINFORM. /Kanat Kulshmanov/ OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Kazakhstan Secretary of State - Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev held a meeting with Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon in Astana on Wednesday.
"We, Kazakhstanis, are very pleased that all your approaches correspond with the position and activity of our President Nursultan Nazarbayev, and we would like to express our appreciation for the support of our President's major initiatives", K. Saudabayev said.
The Foreign Minister noted the significance of the UN Secretary-General's visit to the Semipalatinsk test site that, in his opinion, started the nuclear arms race in 1949 and laid path to a nuclear-free world in 1991.
Mr. Ban Ki-moon said he was honored to visit Kazakhstan, the country with excellent leadership and deep-rooted traditions and culture.
