Kazakh FM and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State discuss Nazarbayev and Obama talks

During the meeting the sides discussed the outcome of the talks between the president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and his United States counterpart Barack Obama, as well as the status and prospects of political and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States. The two sides noted the work of the Commission on Strategic Partnership, chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries Yerlan Idrissov and John Kerry. An important point of the talks was the collaboration in trade and investment. Kazakh FM called on U.S. companies to participate in EXPO 2017. Idrissov and Biswal stressed the importance of the creation of the Kazakh-American Commission on Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which was a major achievement in the field of research and innovation partnership. According to the press service, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of international and regional security policy including the situation in Ukraine. Following the talks, the Idrissov and Biswal agreed on the need to further expand and deepen the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States. Biswal also plans to deliver a speech at the Eurasian National University named after Gumilev.
