Kazakh FM and Special Assistant to the U.S. President discuss situation in Ukraine

"The interlocutors exchanged views on topical issues of international and regional security policy including the situation in Ukraine, the stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan in light of the international coalition's troop withdrawal. On behalf of the U.S. Administration C. Wallander thanked Kazakhstan and its leader for positive role in addressing critical regional and global issues", the press release reads.

During the meeting the sides discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States in political, economic and trade sectors.

The parties noted the importance of the Protocol to the Treaty on the Central Asian Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone (CANWFZ), signed in New York on May 6, 2014.

The two sides also noted the successful operation of the Kazakh-American cooperation development mechanisms including the Commission on Strategic Partnership and the Joint Commission on energy partnership.
Special assistant to Barack Obama noted the package of measures taken in Kazakhstan to improve the investment climate. C. Wollander assured that the Obama administration will work closely with the U.S. businesses to attract them to cooperate with Kazakhstan.

The parties agreed to continue work on strengthening and expanding all areas of the Kazakh-American partnership.
