Kazakh envoy visited Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Centre

ASTANA. May 6. KAZINFORM Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia Zautbek Turisbekov visited the Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Centre in Star city, Russia, the Kazakh MFA reports.

At the meeting with head of the centre Sergei Krikalev and the world's first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova were debated urgent issues of bilateral space cooperation.

The Kazakh Ambassador congratulated them on the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's flight into space noting it is the common holiday for Russia and Kazakhstan for the first space travel started from the Kazakh land - Baikonur space centre. He suggested holding a joint campaign to promote space achievements within the Year of Space 2011 in Russia and 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence. It is planned to arrange visits of the famous Russian cosmonauts to Kazakhstan to meet students and pupils.

The Russian party, it its turn, expressed readiness to receive delegations of the Kazakh schoolchildren to get acquainted with the space exploration history and make tours over the Star city.
