Kazakh energy ministry comments on oil reserves in country
Vice minister of energy of Kazakhstan Askhat Khassenov spoke about oil reserves in the country, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
There are two categories of oil reserves: geological that amounts to 15.5bn and extractable amounting to 4.4bn in the country. Gas reserves amount to 3.8trl cubic meters, said Khassenov while answering to questions on the sidelines of the Senate.
The vice minister went on to add that the reserve balance changes as deposits are developed and transit from exploration to development phase.
According to him, Kazakhstan is to enhance extraction of minerals as technologies are advancing.
The scientific study indicates that the country holds 76bn tons of oil equivalent that are to be explored and developed, said Khassenov.
The country is to extract 90 million tons of oil by the end of this year, of which 73-75mln it has exported.
