Kazakh Embassy to U.S.A. held cultural and educational event for students and teachers of two public schools of Washington

KAZINFORM The Kazakh Embassy to the U.S.A. jointly with the United Nations Association of National Capital Area has held a cultural and educational event for school students and teachers of two public schools of the American capital - Washington DC (Stuart-Hobson Middle School, Leckie Elementary School); the Kazakh Embassy's press service informs.

The United Nations Association of National Capital Area was founded in 1952 and is the oldest and largest division of the United Nations Association of the USA.

The guests were given an opportunity to get familiarized with the history and culture of Kazakhstan. The school students and teachers got acquainted with original copies of ancient works of art of gold and silver jewelry, highly appraised handwork of the Kazakh ancient masters.

American expert on folklore and musical culture of Central Asia Adam Grod made a presentation on cultural and musical heritage of Kazakhstan. He told about the history and features of a dombra as a musical instrument, its place and role in the life of the Kazakhs. A.Grod informed the gathered of how he learned to play a dombra from renowned Kazakh artists, and one of them made a dombra for the American expert. He played professionally the most famous compositions.

Kazakh Ambassador to the United States Y.Idrissov outlined importance of organization of such events which promote development of 'public diplomacy' in the relations between Kazakhstan and the U.S.A. Answering the question of one of the school students on the political system of Kazakhstan, he emphasized that our countries have much in common in the geographical and political plan.
