Kazakh delegation took part in Tehran 18th ECO foreign ministerial session

The ministers discussed agreements between the member states including a Transit Transport Framework Agreement and a memorandum of understanding on establishment of the ECO Center on Natural Disasters Control. The participants listened to the reports of heads of specialized agencies and regional institutions of the Economic Cooperation Organization including the ECO Cultural Institute, ECO Trade and Development Bank, ECO College of Insurance and etc. The issues of speedy implementation of projects important for Kazakhstan within the framework of the ECO, rail links Almaty ? Bandar Abbas and Almaty ? Istanbul were discussed as well. The issue of Afghanistan rehabilitation and ECO relationships with other regional and international organizations was a special topic on the agenda. Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister proposed Kazakhstan?s assistance plan for Afghanistan. Following the results of the sitting heads of the delegations approved a draft Tehran Declaration and a list of favorites for the ECO awards. Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science Meruyert Abusseitova is among the candidates as well.
