Kazakh delegation to partake in III World Conference of Parliament Speakers in Geneva

ASTANA. July 17. KAZINFORM A delegation of the Kazakhstan Parliament headed by Speaker of the Senate Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev has left today for Geneva for participating in the III World Conference of Parliament Speakers held under the aegis of the Interparliamentary Union.

Senator Orynbay Rakhmanberdiyev and Deputy of the Majilis Bagila Baimagambetova are among the members of the delegation.

150 speakers of the parliaments of the world are expected to gather for the conference to discuss the issues concerning effective use of parliamentarians' potential for countering global challenges through strengthening multilateral cooperation in implementation of the Millennium Development Goals. Secretary General of the United Nations Organization Ban Ki-moon is to participate in the opening ceremony of the Forum.

Head of the Kazakh delegation K. Tokayev is expected to make a speech at a session on the parliaments' role and to hold a number of meetings with the chairpersons of the parliaments of participating countries and the representatives of international organizations.

The conference will take place July 19-21, 2010.
