Kazakh restaurant in New York reveals country’s culture through food
The first chain of Kazakh cuisine restaurants in the U.S. is recognized not only as the best central Asian cuisine but also as the place to show the world unique culture and traditions of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.

On the eve of the International Women’s Day Farida Gabbasova of Kazakhstan, the founder of the Farida chain of restaurants in New York, was nominated on March 6 For her Outstanding Achievements and Contribution to Community Empowerment by the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York.

Farida said that International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements and contributions of women to society and culture. She noted the Society of Foreign Consuls considers that she, as a woman, consistently demonstrates leadership in business and supports the mission of female general consuls to change the situation.
It is not the first award granted to the restaurant. The national cuisine restaurant received an award in 2019 at the World Food Festival, in 2022 the Society of Foreign Consuls presented it with the Certificate of Merit. Time Out New York and Eaters New York listed Farida as the best central Asian cuisine in New York.

Farida Gabbasova was born in Karaganda city. She graduated from the Bolashak University and Fashion Institute of Technology, part of the State University of New York (SUNY), which focuses on art, business, design, mass communication, and technology connected to the fashion industry.
Back in 2015, Farida opened her first unique restaurant in Manhattan which greatly impressed New Yorkers. In 2021 she opened the second restaurant during the pandemic. In 2023 Farida started franchising her restaurant.
The restaurant offers its guests a variety of Kazakh dishes to let people get acquainted with the country's culture and traditions.
