Kazakh consul: Cooperation with Belarus in oil refining benefits Kazakhstan
"I believe that the Single Economic Space opens up new prospects and opportunities for its member states. Kazakhstan dreams about the European market, and in this regard it cannot find a better option that a transit via Belarus with the use of Belarusian oil refineries. It might benefit both the sides. Kazakhstan is quite serious about processing oil in Belarus and entering the European market with a ready product. Belarus needs its refineries to be fully loaded," he said.
In his words, Kazakhstan oil is lighter than Russian, and its refining is more economically sound.
There are also other ways for mutually beneficial cooperation. During the recent visit of the Belarusian President to Astana the sides signed documents on setting up 27 joint companies in Kazakhstan. The Kazakh leader has set forth a task to increase the mutual trade to $4 billion by 2014. Kazakhstan is interested in the high technology projects, development of transnational companies.
