Kazakh chess player grabs bronze at World Junior Chess Championship for the blind and visually impaired
Nurgisa Kuanyshuly, an 11-year-old child from Astana, has claimed a bronze medal at the 12th IBCA World Junior Chess Championship for the Blind and Visually Impaired 2024, Kazinform News Agency has learned from the press service of the capital's akimat.

The Kazakh chess player participated in the 12th IBCA World Junior Chess Championship for the Blind and Visually Impaired held in Bangalore, India.
“The World Chess Championship was held among female and junior competitors. Three athletes from our country participated in the competition. This was Nurgisa's first time participating in the World Junior Tournament, who secured the bronze medal with a total of six points after nine rounds. In July of this year, the athletes representing the national team won the gold and silver medals at the world championship among adults in Armenia,” Zinyatkyz Nussipbayeva, senior chess coach of the Sports Training Center for Persons with Disabilities, said.
Earlier, Nurgisa became Kazakhstan's first medalist at the IBCA World Junior and World Women Championship.
It bears to remind that Kazakhstani para-athletes wrapped up the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris, France. Kazakhstan won the record-high nine medals at this Paralympics to rank 39th in the official overall standings. 44 athletes defended the country’s colors in nine sports at the Summer Paralympic Games 2024 in France which is also a new record.
