Kazakh chairmanship in OSCE could play great role in stabilization of situation in South Caucasus - EU Special Representative for South Caucasus Peter Semneby

BRUSSELS. April 17. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Taking into account Kazakhstan's relations with the Caucasian states, European Union and Russia, the Kazakh chairmanship in the OSCE could play great role in stabilization of the situation in the South Caucasus. EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby has brought out such opinion at the meeting with Kazakh Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belgium, Luxembourg, Head of Kazakhstan's mission to EU and NATO Yerik Utembayev.

The EU Special Representative highly appraised actions of the Kazakh chairmanship in the OSCE and Astana's contribution to the process of search of solutions on protracted conflicts at the Organization's space. He also noted inpoortance of bilateral cooperation of Kazakhstan with Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia in the economic and energy spheres.

The European diplomat emphasized that restoration of stability in the region meets interests of all neighbor states, in particular, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey and the EU. In this connection he spoke for continuation of the joint political, technical and theoretical work.

Y.Utembayev, in his turn, paid attention to necessity of strengthening economic situation in the conflict zones. He noted that Kazakhstan expends efforts in this direction at bilateral level as well as within the framework of the OSCE.

The Kazakh Ambassador informed the European colleague of the work on preparation for the OSCE Summit in Astana and other important events, on which representatives of the European Union were invited. He noted significance of creation of a stability and cooperation platform in all zones of protracted conflicts.
