Kazakh capital to host Grand Tour Biathlon for boys and girls

The Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan – “Grand Tour Biathlon” for boys and girls is scheduled to take place on August 4 in Astana, Kazinform News Agency cites the city's akimat.

Around 100 athletes from the Akmola, Abai, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, and East Kazakhstan regions will participate in the competition.
"Grand Tour Biathlon" is a project of the Kazakhstan Biathlon Union, consisting of four winter, two summer stages aimed at the development of children's sports. The first stage was held in Ridder in the East Kazakhstan, the second one - in Aksai district of the West Kazakhstan region, the third stage - in Pavlodar, the fourth - in Shchuchinsk, the fifth - in Petropavlovsk.
The best winter stage’s athletes went to Liatoppen Biathlon Festival for children in Norway in April. The new competition format is as close as possible to the Biathlon World Cup stages.
The final stage of the competition, scheduled to take place in Astana on August 4-5, will feature sprint and individual races. The winners will be awarded crystal cups, and five highest-performing teams will be awarded monetary certificates amounting to a total of 15 million tenge.
The event will feature special raffles for attendees. Additionally, spectators who successfully hit all targets with a laser rifle will receive exclusive prizes from the Biathlon Federation.
