Kazakh Attorney General visits Canada

Daulbayev has held the meetings with the heads of several government agencies, the press service of the supervisory authority informs.

At a meeting with the Speaker of the Senate Noel Kinsella the Kazakh Attorney General Daulbayev discussed prospects for cooperation in the legal sphere. The two sides noted that Kazakhstan and Canada have established friendly and mutually beneficial relations and the current visit of the Kazakh delegation is an important step for the further development of partnership and exchange of experience of development of legal systems of the two countries.

Canada is the first and only state of the American continent which Kazakhstan signed a Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters with. At the moment the agreement is going to be ratified.

In order to deepen mutual legal cooperation the Speaker of the Senate proposed to establish a joint program on exchange of tudents studying criminology and international law. During the meeting with the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration of Canada the Attorney General Chris Aleksander the Kazakh Attorney General expressed interest in the study of the Canadian experience in the sphere of legal regulation of migration processes.

Topical issues of collaboration in the fight against transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, cybercrime and terrorism were discussed with the Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada William Pintni. Particular attention was paid to the discussion on the control of migration flows and extradition of criminals. The Canadian side interested in the experience of Kazakhstan's cooperation with the European countries in reforming the criminal and penal legislation.

Following the meeting the parties agreed to continue the dialogue and to discuss further expansion of the international treaty framework between the two countries via diplomatic channels.
