Kazakh and Spanish prime ministers discuss trade and economic cooperation
During the meeting the sides discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation.
"I believe your visit will give a good boost to the further deepening of bilateral cooperation. Our two countries have established good and stable relationship. The contractual and legal base is expanding, the trade is growing. Only in the first half of this year, trade has grown twofold," Akhmetov said.
According to Mariano Rajoy, "the long-standing friendship between our heads of state also contributes to the excellent relations between Kazakhstan and Spain."
He praised the level of mutually beneficial partnership and expressed confidence in further fruitful cooperation.
A number of bilateral documents was signed at the end of the talks. Among those documents are the memorandum of cooperation between JSC KAZNEX Invest and the Spanish Agency for Export and Investment ICEX, a memorandum on cooperation in the field of mechanical engineering between JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Engineering" and the company Grupo AGEM.
LLP "Samruk-Kazyna Invest and ROSROCAINDOXCryoEnergy signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint venture. A memorandum of cooperation in the construction of wind power plants in the city of Astana, a memorandum of cooperation between the information agency "Kazinform" and Spanish EFE, a memorandum of cooperation between the Eurasian National University and the University of San Pablo were also signed after the talks.

In accordance with Kazakhstan statistics, in 2012, bilateral trade amounted to 996 million U.S. dollars, of which export was 768 million U.S. dollars, import made 228 million U.S. dollars. In 2011 trade turnover amounted to 1.3 billion U.S. dollars.
In January-June 2013 turnover increased 2.4 times and amounted to 1.029 billion U.S. dollars.
