Kazakh Ambassador met with EU Special Representative for Moldova

BRUSSELS. April 20. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Kazakh Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg, Head of Kazakhstan's Mission to the EU and NATO Yerik Utembayev held a meeting with Kálmán Mizsei, the EU Special Representative for Moldova.

The Special Representative highly appraised the activity of Kazakhstan as the OSCE Chair calling it active and effective. "Kazakhstan has been and will continue to be an important European state though only a small part of it is geographically in Europe. We appreciate your help in regulation of existing problems", K. Mizsei said.

The Kazakh diplomat paid special attention to the importance and timeliness of convening the OSCE Summit in 2010. He told about the preparatory works and support of the Kazakh President's initiative from many political leaders of the participating countries.

Mr. Mizsei noted that it was necessary to continue Transnistria 5-plus-2 negotiations involving the parties of the conflict, mediators and observers.

The sides exchanged opinions on the situation in Kyrgyzstan and Georgia. Y. Utembayev informed of the Kazakhstan's efforts on stabilization of the situation in these states. K. Mizsei noted that the political instability in Kyrgyzstan was caused by the lack of sources for market economy and that the country needed reforms.

K. Mizsei took an interest in the prospects of cooperation development between Kazakhstan and the European Union. It was noted that the Kazakh President's recent visit to Brussels gave additional impulse to that process.
