Kazakh Ambassador, Luxembourg FM discussed prospects of coop development

KAZINFORM. /Yerzhan Ospanov/ Prospects of development of bilateral relations and interaction within the framework of international and regional organizations were considered at the meeting of Kazakh Ambassador Yerik Utembayev with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn yesterday.

Minister Asselborn highly appraised the status of relations with Kazakhstan and noted the country's leading role in the Central Asian region. He complimented the successful beginning of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE and confirmed that Luxembourg would further support Astana in implementation of that responsible mission.

Ambassador Utembayev told about the first two months of the chairmanship and forthcoming tasks. In particular, he informed of holding the informal ministerial meeting of the OSCE member states planned to be held in Almaty. Mr. Asselborn expressed his readiness to take part in the meeting. With great interest the Minister got acquainted with the article by Kazakh President N. Nazarbayev "The Fate and Prospects of the OSCE".

The parties agreed that active political cooperation should go along with development of trade-economic partnership between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg. In this context the Kazakh diplomat paid special attention to the opportunities of investing in various sectors of Kazakhstan's economy. The possibility of establishing special relations between the cities of Almaty and Luxembourg was considered as well.

Mr. Asselborn was familiarized with the main provisions of the Kazakh President's Address to the Nation "New Decade - New Economic Growth - New Opportunities of Kazakhstan" as well as five major directions of Kazakhstan's development till 2020.
