Kazak Prosecutor General offers to hold Summit on Countering Violent Extremism 2015 in Astana

Among the participants were representatives of governmental organizations, experts, leaders of the clergy and youth, NGOs. The Kazakh delegation was headed by the Prosecutor General Askhat Daulbayev. US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon made speeches at the opening ceremony of the summit. US President Barack Obama spoke after the first session of the forum. The main purpose of the forum is the development of an action plan against violent extremism, which is expected to be adopted at a meeting of heads of states of the United Nations General Assembly. The main topics of the agenda were the issues related to the enhancement of effective policies to prevent the growth of violent extremism, suppress its driving forces, and create safe communities. Speaking at the forum A.Daulbayev supported the idea of consolidating the efforts of all countries to prevent and combat all forms of violent extremism. He reported on the accepted in the country measures aimed at preventing extremism and terrorism. According to A.Daulbayev, joint efforts should be directed primarily for preventing and combating the spread of radical ideology, timely search and arrest radical elements. It should be noted that Prosecutor General Askhat Daulbayev offered to host the next Summit on Countering Violent Extremism in the city of Astana. The summit's participants agreed that violent extremism is a global challenge. It transcends borders. No single country can defeat terrorism. Rather all country must come together and join hands to win the battle against violent extremism. The summit has adopted a joint communiqué in which the participants emphasized their commitment to the fight against violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations, and the need to intensify the efforts of the international community to counter the radicalization of society.
