Karaganda region Governor receives Cardinal Secretary of State of Vatican Tarcisio Bertone

The Governor of Karaganda region Serik Akhmetov organized the reception for the eminent guest.

'Your visit to our region is a proof of the willingness of Catholic Church to cooperate. I am confident that the Summit in Astana will became a new stage in development of international cooperation between the member countries of the Organization', the Head of the region said.

'The visit to Karaganda is very important for us. The Cathedral of Our Lady of Fatima is built in Karaganda. It is a very important event for all Central Asia', T. Bertone said.

After the reception the Cardinal has surveyed the Cathedral of Our Lady of Fatima building site. Then the high guest visited Greek-Catholic church and monastery of the Carmelite sisters. In the afternoon he will make a solemn liturgy in the old Cathedral.
