Karaganda oblast and Czech Republic to develop coop

KARAGANDA. January 14. KAZINFORM /Valentina Yelizarova/ Karaganda oblast Governor DSerik Akhmetov and head of the delegation of the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic Hetman Jaroslav Palas have discussed the issues of cooperation development with the Czech Republic; the Governor's press service reports.

"It is the first foreign delegation, which visits Karaganda oblast - the largest industrial region of Kazakhstan - in the new year. We are always open for cooperation. I am confident that we have good potential opportunities for bilateral ties development", S.Akhmetov noted.

Production of enterprises of Karaganda oblast, in particular copper, coal, ferrous metals, is exported to 92 countries. According to 2009 results, the foreign trade turnover made up USD 7 bln. According to the Governor, there is only one enterprise with the Czech participation in the region.

The Czech side expressed readiness to cooperate in such spheres like healthcare, education, metallurgy, coal industry, including specialists' training for these sectors.

S.Akhmetov urged the Deputy Governor to prepare a draft memorandum of cooperation between Karaganda oblast and the Moravian-Silesian Region.
