K. Kelimbetov: Most promising cities must be defined for pursuing efficient territorial policy

"Industrial policy of the country is closely connected with territorial policy. Enhancing the role of the state in economic policy provides for implementation of a rational and efficient policy of territorial development which must take into account large territory and underpopulation and must be directed on development of the cities with huge potential and high economic activity.
According to him, territorial concentration of economic activity can provide development of neighboring areas. "The current financial crisis should be considered as a time for new opportunities and reconsideration of the policy of equal development. Adherence to this principle will allow concentrating at achievement of certain aims, like it is done in Australia and Canada", he noted.
"We shall define most perspective cities for concentration of our efforts in order to pursue efficient territorial policy. I mean here, first of all, our capital city Astana", Kelimbetov resumed.
