June 8, 2010 - historical day for OSCE's Asian partners
Addressing the journalists at a briefing, Kanat Saudabayev made a small excursion into the history, reminding reporters that almost 18 years ago, in autumn 1992 an unknown President of an unknown country had initiated the idea on convocation of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, an analogue of the OSCE in the Asian continent. "At that time this idea was criticized by the world experts. However, today Kazakhstan is an economically strong democratically developing country. Today President Nursultan Nazarbayev is a recognized world political leader and the CICA unites 22 states representing half of the global population and one third of the gross world product", Kanat Saudabayev said.
According to him, June 8 became a historical day for the CICA. For the first time chairmanship in the Conference which is a brainchild of Nursultan Nazarbayev will pass to the Turkish Republic. This is the event of great historical importance, since Kazakhstan and Turkey have common historical past, common culture and traditions. Turkey will take the office of the CICA presiding country when the forum has reached its maturity.
In this regard he wished the Turkey side, in particular Minister of Foreign Affairs, success on the post of the CICA chairman.
