June 13 thunderstorm uproots 3,200 trees in Moscow
"The hurricane uprooted or damaged 3,200 trees on Sunday. Another 900 trees were damaged a week ago. We will compensate the damage," he said. "Vehicles and people also sustained damage. Seven people were injured. That is a pity. We issued the storm warning in advance."
The thunderstorm hit worst the eastern and southeastern districts of Moscow and suburbs. The wind tore off almost two dozens of billboards. The storm, which happened a week earlier, affected northern and northwester areas of the city.
Besides, last weekend's storm disrupted electricity supply to railroads in the Nizhny Novgorod and Vladimir regions.
The power supply is fully restored, the Russian Railroads Company said.
"Nizhnovenergo fully restored power supply to several sub-stations of the Gorky railroad in the morning. The railroad traffic has fully normalized," the company said.
