Jordan and Kazakhstan keen to expand religious cooperation

AMMAN. April 26. KAZINFORM Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Jordan Bulat Sarsenbayev took part in the awarding ceremony of the World Interfaith Harmony Week held under the auspices of Abdullah II of Jordan on 25 April.

Within the framework of the event Ambassador Sarsenbayev met with Chief Advisor to HM King Abdullah for Religious and Cultural Affairs Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad. The sides noted the importance of encouraging the interfaith dialogue to foster confidence-building in the world, especially in the Middle East.

The Kazakh diplomat reiterated Kazakhstan's interest in eliminating such negative developments as political and religious extremism, illiteracy and poverty in the Islamic world.

Prince Ghazi recalled taking his trip to Kazakhstan within the 4th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. In this connection, the Jordanian official expressed interest in expanding ties between Jordan and Kazakhstan in the religious sphere.

Mr. Sarsenbayev also awarded Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad a jubilee medal commemorating the 20 anniversary of the CICA convocation.
