Joint Kazakh-Turkish venture to produce optoelectronic devices to be set up in Astana

ASTANA. December 10. KAZINFORM - Today, Kazakhstan Defense Minister Adilbek Jaksybekov and his Turkish counterpart Ismet Yilmaz visited the construction site of a joint venture for production of optoelectronic devices «Kazakhstan ASELSAN Engineering» in Astana.

The enterprise was set up subsequent to the agreement of Heads of State of Kazakhstan and Turkey. The chiefs of defense ministries were shown samples of future products to be made at the plant. Kazakhstan content in the joint project will initially be 30% to gradually increase to 67% over the next five years.

"We held fruitful talks on the development of our relations, evidence to which is the opening of a modernly equipped plant for production of electronics and optical devices, "- Kazakhstani minister said after a meeting at RK defense ministry.

The plant will produce a wide range of electronic circuit boards used in a variety of techniques (from submarines to spaceships), which is only possible using the existing special equipment. Maintenance of the equipment as well as training of the staff will be held locally. Later, the plant will produce, process and coat infrared lenses at the nanoscale.

"Investments have come from both sides. The plant's operation will benefit both Turkey and Kazakhstan by producing the goods the armed forces of our countries need,"- A.Jaksybekov added.
