Japanese director Kurosawa wins Cannes director prize

CANNES. KAZINFORM - Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa was given the best director prize Saturday in the Un Certain Regard section of the annual Cannes International Film Festival.
Kurosawa's "Kishibe no Tabi (Journey to the Shore)" was among 19 films from 21 countries listed in the section, where "Hrutar (Rams)" directed by Grimur Hakonarson from Iceland won the award. Based on a novel by Kazumi Yumoto, Kurosawa's love story revolves around a man who returned to his wife three years after he drowned at sea. In 2008, Kurosawa's "Tokyo Sonata" won the jury prize in the same section that focuses on singular, original films. Source: Kyodo
