Japan and UK agree to boost energy security

On Sunday, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and her British counterpart, Keir Starmer, agreed to strengthen economic security cooperation, including energy supply stability, amid the Middle East turmoil, Qazinform News Agency cites Jiji Press.

The two leaders also pledged to continue their collaboration on the joint development of a next-generation fighter jet by Japan, Britain, and Italy.

"I'd like to exchange opinions on economic security, defense and advanced technology," Takaichi told Starmer during the meeting.

Starmer said he is pleased to have the opportunity to talk about the future with Takaichi in investment, energy, and other areas. 

The two leaders agreed to boost cooperation to expand the supply chains of critical minerals.

As reported earlier, Japan and Malaysia vowed stronger energy, maritime security ties.
