Jacob Zuma begins 2nd term as president of SA

JOHANNESBURG. KAZINFORM - Jacob Zuma has been sworn in as South Africa's president at a ceremony in Pretoria. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Union Buildings in the capital Pretoria.

More than 4,000 foreign and local dignitaries attended the ceremony, including 27 state leaders and more than one hundred foreign diplomats, Xinhua reports. They were seated in the Nelson Mandela Amphitheatre, while 20,000 others witnessed the inauguration on the south lawns.

Zuma delivered a speech after taking oath. There were also performances from artists and the air force. President Zuma was officially elected for a second and last five-year term on Wednesday by the African National Congress-dominated parliament. Zuma and his African National Congress emerged victorious in the May 7th election. He is expected to announce his cabinet on Sunday.
