Issues of disabled children discussed in Almaty
The session was organized by the city employment administration and social programs, Astana Center for children's social adaptation and Center for support of deaf invalids "Umit". The event was held within the "Social Dialogue" Project under the aegis of Counterpart International Organization.
It was noted that Kazakhstan signed Convention on Rights of Disabled people and a facultative protocol to the Convention as of December, 11, 2008. One of the main regulations of the document covers the inclusive education for disabled children.
614 orphanages are operated in the country where 75 000 children including disabled children are under the state care. There are two educational programs for disabled children in Kazakhstan where the funds for their inclusive education are provided.
According to the view of the participants disabled children should be educated at secondary schools. It is necessary for them to be involved in society, to gain the intercourse experience with their herd mates and received good education. The experience of the most developed countries shows that such children are better accustomed in society.
