Issekeshev: Kazakhstan to produce 190 thousand cars a year

"In the automotive industry the task is to increase production from 37 to 190 thousand cars per year, to bring the local content in manufacturing up to 50% from the current 30%, and to increase exports to 30%," Issekeshev said.
He also stressed that within the framework of the second five-year plan there was analyzed the development of industries by regions, as well as potential of the regions for the development of various sectors in the next five years. Differentiation of regions by industry will be fixed in the second five-year plan of the industrialization program.
It is also planned to develop several types of clusters. In particular, the first national oil and gas cluster will be in West Kazakhstan region.
"Oil and gas cluster in West Kazakhstan regions includes not only oil and gas production, but also oil refining, petrochemistry, more complex chemical products, oil and gas engineering, service, work, everything around oil and gas production, with an emphasis on products with high added value," the minister said.
In addition, the program provides for territorial clusters.
"Territorial clusters will be selected on a competitive basis. This work will begin this year, and the first three regional cluster to be supported by the government will be selected in 2015," he said.
The program also supports two innovative clusters - Nazarbayev University and Almaty innovation cluster based on the Innovative Technologies Park.
