Islamic FAO could be set up only after preliminary consultations with OIC states

ASTANA. June 8. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ Ahmad Mohamed Ali, chairman of the Islamic Development Bank, has commented today on the initiative of President Nursultan Nazarbayev on setting up a Food Fund under the Organization of Islamic Conference by analogy with the UN FAO.
"As for the establishment of an organization like the UN FAO it is necessary to hold consultations with other OIC member states and find out their opinions. From one hand the idea sounds good for we have no such organizations in Central Asia dealing with this problem, but on the other hand we had a Resolution of the OIC Foreign Ministers not to found a new organization on promotion of such ideas," he said.
