Islamabad readies new military plan for US meet

ISLAMABAD. October 15. KAZINFORM Pakistan will present its own plan for military operation in Al-Qaeda-led Haqqani stronghold of North Waziristan during upcoming Pakistan-United States strategic dialogue scheduled in Washington on Oct. 18, Kazinform refers to Arab News.

Well-placed defense sources told Arab News, that the plan, "a highly guarded document, suggests Pakistan's own surgical strikes in Al-Qaeda-Haqqani strongholds. This plan will be different from that of Malakand operation which was quite expensive and cost Pakistan Army heavy casualties.

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani will be accompanied by directors general of Military Operations and Military Intelligence during his visit to the United States.

Pakistan will strongly demand an end to CIA generated drone attacks which military planners in Pakistan feel are proving counter-productive and helping militants breed more suicide bombers from North Waziristan.

Officials expect tough negotiations at the level of Pentagon on this issue, Kazinform cites Arab News. See www.arabnews.com
