ISESCO announces prizes for science and technology 2012

RABAT. January 26. KAZINFORM The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has announced the call for nominations for its prizes for science and technology 2012.

The prizes are awarded every other year for outstanding, pioneering researches in basic sciences (biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics and physics) and technology, the ISESCO press service said.

Laureates will each receive a commemorative ISESCO Gold Medal, a $ 5,000 cash prize, and a certificate acknowledging their achievements.

The prizes will be awarded at a ceremony to be held at the Sixth Islamic Conference of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministers next October 2012 in Khartoum, Sudan

ISESCO has invited nominations for the prizes from science academies, national research boards, universities, as well as scientific and cultural institutions in the Member States (two nominees for each category). Nomination forms, to be completed and returned no later than 31 March 2012, can be downloaded from the www.icpsr.org.ma link.

For the record, ISESCO is awarding its prizes for science and technology since 1997.
