Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan to construct joint railway: Salehi
Upon his arrival in Ashgabat Airport, Foreign Minister Salehi told reporters that construction of the railway will play an important role in boosting trade transactions of three countries.
Referring to the talks to be held on Iran-Turkmenistan bilateral ties, he noted that cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan, particularly in the filed of energy is enhancing.
Foreign ministers of Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Qatar and Oman will sign a transit cooperation pact in Ashgabat.
Foreign Minister Salehi will also meet with Turkmen officials on the sidelines of the meeting.
The first five-sided meeting between foreign ministers of Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Qatar and Oman was held in Tehran in November 2010. They emphasized on the necessity for facilitating commerce and transit, as well as expansion of regional cooperation by issuing a statement.
Turkmenistan with a population of more than five million people and an area of more than 488,000 square kilometers is located in northeast Iran, Kazinform has learnt from Trend News.
