Iran to regard hostile any country, joining US scenario vs IRI

"The United States persuaded part of West European states and Russia to support anti-Iranian sanctions. However, any action, levelled against Iran and against its civil airliners and ships, will meet a resolute and immediate response and will evoke regret from those who committed it," warned the Iranian president.

"Sanctions and threats will only accelerate Iran's advance on the road of progress," Ahmadinejad noted.

On June 9, the UN Security Council adopted a US-brokered resolution on imposing additional international sanctions against Iran. These measures are aimed, above all, against Iranian enterprises, engaged in nuclear activities as well as the Iranian military-industrial complex.

The document provides, in part, for setting up an international mechanism of monitoring, which will help to control movements of freight ships and carry out their inspection if there is suspicion that they contain cargoes, having to do with Iranian nuclear and missile programmes.
