The two-day meeting will be held at the level of special representatives, deputies and foreign ministers of Caspian Sea littoral states.

The Caspian Sea legal regime convention is a framework defining the overall conditions of the Caspian Sea, the littoral statesˈ rights and duties.

The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed body of water on earth by area, and is variously classed as the worldˈs largest lake or a full-fledged sea.

Despite extensive negotiations, the legal status of the Caspian Sea has been unclear since the break-up of the Soviet Union in 1991, IRNA reports.

The Caspian Sea littoral states are Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan.
