Iran's ballistic missile in mass production: official

TEHRAN. February 7. KAZINFORM Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said Monday that Iran has put smart ballistic missiles in mass production, the official IRNA news agency reported; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

The smart ballistic missiles with three-fold ultrasound speed could not be intercepted and targeted by enemies, the commander told reporters at a press conference.

"The missiles unveiled to public two years ago are now in mass production and they are more accurate and advanced," local ISNA news agency quoted Jafari as saying.

The commander did not elaborate further details and the type of the missiles.

Iran has made considerable progress in the past decades over the development of medium and long-range missiles, however, Teheran has reiterated that its missile capability is "a defensive tool against invasions"; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
