"We are all united in the fact that such law is needed. I would like to note that the preparation of the draft model law is one of the events held by IPA CIS in connection with the upcoming celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. We aim at creating the legislative sample in perpetuating the memory of courage and heroism of the CIS peoples", said Matvienko. At the end of October 2013 in the Tauride Palace - the headquarters of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, was held the first meeting of the working group on the draft model law "On perpetuation of memory of the Fatherland defenders, prominent state and public figures". The working group round table has been attended by experts and the CIS IPA member-states' parliamentarians. It bears to remind that 2015 year was declared in CIS as the Year of World War II veterans. In 2012, the IPA CIS adopted the model law "On the inadmissibility of actions for the rehabilitation of Nazism, glorification of Nazi criminals and their accomplices" which main objective is the preservation of the historical truth concerning the Second World War. The law has already been reflected in the national legislation of a number of Commonwealth's states.
