Investments in energy sector of Kazakhstan to reach $7 bln
The economic upturn of Kazakhstan that began in 2000s increased the demand for electric energy. Thus, in late 2010, 82.6 bln kilowatt per hour of electric energy was produced in the country. This was 30% more compared to 2003.
It is worth noting that a part of investments will be spent for reconstruction and modernization of existing energy sources, energy network facilities as well as for construction of generating capacities and infrastructure within the Industrialization Program.
New industrial productions launched in the country will require additional energy capacities. However, the projects on construction of energy facilities within the State Program of Accelerated Industrial Innovative Development will allow to balance and meet the demand for energy, director of the Industrial Policy Department of DBK Sabit Sukhanov said.
Traditional energy sources (heat and hydro energy) remain one of the promising directions of financing. Besides, special attention will also be paid to renewable energy sources wind and solar power stations, small hydro power stations that have essential potential for development, the DBK survey writes.
